Glencore DRC Photo Assignment

Our photographic team has just spent a week in Komoto, the Democratic Republic of Congo, on assignment for Visual Media Productions (London) and their client, Glencore International. Our vast experience in shooting on the African continent and South Africa's travel links to the DRC made us the easy choice for this assignment. Tasked with acquiring stills, for the year end report,  of the entire Komoto Copper Mine project, including underground operations and CSI projects within the local communities, our crew's professionalism and experience ensured the brief was not just met but surpassed.  For this particular project we took a combination of Nikon D800 and Canon 7D cameras with a mix of fast primes. Both cameras performed well but the real standout was the Nikon D800. Also essential was our LED Light Panels, fantastic for underground shooting, light weight and battery operated, it meant we could move at a good pace. Ultimately though it's all about the client and Scott Shillum, Production Head of VisMedia had this to say "The Glencore photo shoots were all extremely well received, thank you very much for all of your hard work and effort. Evras Shoot For USA Based Production House

When Arkansas based, Backfocus Productions, were contracted to produce the Evraz Steel global videos they faced the issue of sourcing the right South African production partner. Not an easy thing to do when you're over 15000kms away. Lucky for them, one of the first companies they approached was Incubate Productions in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mike McCall, Head of Backfocus, needed to ensure that not only could we produce high quality footage that matched the exact look and feel already established from the US shoot but that we could manage working in the difficult  environment of an operating steel mill.

When it comes to video production you can't mess around with the quality of your gear. We always create our productions to  broadcast quality standards by using the latest HD Sony Camera's whilst editing with  pro Adobe and Sony NLE digital editors. All of this video production gear is pointless however if you don't know how to use it. OUR EXPERIENCE is made up of 20 years in the industry, experience gained from working with ITV (United Kingdom) as well as with the SABC and M-Net. We frequently work on the African continent in far flung countries such as the Republic of Congo and Guinea.
